Clearly the Best Moments from the 2014 Golden Globes

In case you missed them, here are a dozen notable moments from last night’s Golden Globes. Definitely one of the weirder award shows in recent memory.

Jacqueline Bisset: first award of the night and the first bleep.

Jim Carrey’s succinct breakdown of LaBeouf’s career.

Idris Elba (what else needs to be said).

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler: their best joke.

Random moment before a commercial: Oscar Isaac pouring a drink for someone (because why not).

Spike Jonze’s adorably unprepared speech, accepting the screenplay award for Her.

I couldn’t find a gif of Diane Keaton singing, but she looked pretty excellent for a woman who just turned 68. Also probably pulls off a Ralph Lauren suit better than most guys do.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, having “snuck” into the film section of seating for her work in Enough Said, refuses a selfie with Reese Witherspoon.

Matthew McConaughey knows exactly how to accept his Golden Globe (first words he ever said on film, after all).

Elisabeth Moss trying to flip off the Mani-Cam.

Joaquin Phoenix actually smiled. Hallelujah.

Emma Thompson: great presenter or greatest presenter?

  1. You’re so right: It was a night of the weird! The moments you’ve picked out were definitely notable ones for me too; though we must have flipped the channel when Diane Keaton was on. Yes, she rocks the tux! I thought Fey and Poehler did a decent job–there were a few clinkers, but most of their commentary was spot on. Who was it who was all over Bono? Was that Poehler? Heh.
