Happy President’s Day: 10 Portrayals of the POTUS

Since today is President’s Day, here’s a reminder of some interesting cinematic portrayals of the United States’ former leaders during or leading up to their presidencies. (No, I am not including Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.) Though I have not seen a number of them, all of these actors can be counted on for fine performances.

Walter Huston as Abraham Lincoln in Abraham Lincoln (1930)

Raymond Massey as Abraham Lincoln in Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940)

Alexander Knox as Woodrow Wilson in Wilson (1944)

Ralph Bellamy as Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Sunrise at Campobello (1960)

James Whitmore as Harry S. Truman in Give ’em Hell, Harry! (1975)

Philip Baker Hall as Richard Nixon in Secret Honor (1984)

Anthony Hopkins as Richard Nixon in Nixon (1995)

Josh Brolin as George W. Bush in W. (2008)

Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln (2012)

Bill Murray as Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Hyde Park on Hudson (2012)
