Double Vision: One More Note About Kieslowski

Frequent readers of this blog probably know that I recently saw the entire Three Colors trilogy (1993-1994) by director Krzysztof Kieslowski. It seems only fitting to mention today, on what would have been Kieslowski’s 73rd birthday, that a few days ago I had the chance to see Three Colors: Blue for a second time since – quite amazingly – the Turner Classic Movies TV channel showed the whole trilogy on the night of Sunday, June 22 into the early morning hours of Monday, June 23. Blue remains my favorite of the three films. It is an essential and I am grateful to TCM for giving me the chance to revisit it. I have already written quite a bit about how great the movie is, so I will conclude the post with my three favorite pieces of music from Zbigniew Preisner’s score for Blue.

“Olivier & Julie – Trial Composition”

“Song for the Unification of Europe (Julie’s Version)”

“Reprise-Flute”
